My husband and I had a good steady income and we managed our finances reasonably well until he was made redundant and we found ourselves in financial difficulties. The worry of where the money would come from to pay our credit card bills along with our mortgages etc began to take over our lives and so we contacted a debt management company who we found on the internet. They promised us a great service but unfortunately our experience with them was far from a "great service". Dealing with faceless, nameless people meant that we could never get anyone on the phone to help us or deal with our queries and they never rang back. We came across an advert in a local paper for a company called Assured Money Solutions with an office in the town. We decided to contact them to get help before it was too late. A company representative arranged a call with us at our home the following evening and explained the process that we needed to follow to become debt free. The very next day they undertook negotiations with my creditors and began to put in place an affordable payment plan. They also gave us advice on mis-sold payment protection (something we were totally unaware we were being charged for) and are currently looking into this on a number of accounts for us. Being able to deal with a representative face to face has been a very reassuring experience. Meeting with the debt adviser at our home and discussing our options over a cup of tea was very informal and left us feeling more confident about our finances. Everything discussed is completely private and we liked the idea that there was a local office that we could visit for advice and help if we needed to. I am glad to confirm that the awful rollercoaster feeling has stopped and we are now on the road to becoming debt free. The hardest part is admitting you have financial difficulties, easy part was meeting Assured Money Solutions, who do have the solution and offer sound non-judgmental advice.
